Burf.com would like to welcome Steph to the team. Her role will be adding new content to the site and maintaining the Burf.com blog and new forum. I hope you will join me in welcoming her to site.

Burf.com has finally been updated with a new simple design to focus users on searching. It now offers users many different types of searches like music, torrent, video and many more.

Some site content has not yet been updated to the new design, however this will happen over the next few days. After this we can then focus on adding new areas to the site to help you make the most of your experience.

Its time to give Burf.com a facelift and focus the site more on being a search engine. Based on this, we are hoping to have the nice new site up and running by the end of Easter. It will hopefully feature new media searches like torrent, music, video and file to enable users to find just about anything on the site. The downside of this is that certain areas of the site are down or have been removed. This is because we want to focus our efforts more in one direction instead of many.

The proxy is back for the moment as there has been a lot of requests for it. I hope people use it for good reasons and not for reasons that promote bad things.

Burf.com Proxy

Sorry for the delay, Burf.com is now back up and running, indexing more than ever, twice as much hardware and an even bigger pipe! Please do some searches and let us know what you think!

Burf.com will be down most of this weeked (12-13th Jan) due to updates to the indexing engine. We hope to have it back up as soon as possible.

Just a quick post to let everyone know that we are still alive. Currently trying out new functions and areas to add to Burf.com. Burf.TV and Burf.mobi are coming soon, plus a few more portals!!

Burf.com is currently undergoing some hardware software changes due to repeated problems with downtime etc. Once these nasties are sorted, work will continue on a new search engine with a new look and feel. We are sorry that the site has been down and not had much updated content, this will change once these bugs are sorted! We can then develop lots of cool features that we always planned to!

Work on a new improved search engine has started. This is a change of technology (from Equinox to Microsoft .net 2.0) and a complete rewrite of the site and even server side language. We plan to user SQL 2005 instead of custom indexing services and remove most of the different layers that have slowed progress in the past. No firm date is set for when this will be live and if it will even be live, as the technology is new to us and may not suit our needs. Regular progress updates will be posted on the forum
